Academics
Chihlee Institute of Technology (CIT) was originally founded as Chihlee College of Business (CLCB) in 1964. The school name and motto were adopted in accordance with the foundation of ancient Chinese philosophers and sages’ teachings: honesty, faith, accuracy and diligence. Initially, CLCB had four academic departments: International Trade, Business Administration, Accounting and Statistics, and Banking and Insurance. The Department of Secretarial Science was subsequently added in 1967. In the following year, CLCB opened for enrollment an evening classes program.
The Information center provides basic teaching and research services with the most up-to-date computer technologies and applications. Also, this center is responsible for computerizing campus administrative work and activities and developing a good network. With the latest in computer resources, our students can receive a high standard of training that will help them in passing related examinations and in obtaining professional licenses.
In order to keep up with the trend of globalization, to upgrade its academic standard, and to enhance international cultural exchange, CIT has spared no effort in increasing contacts with renowned universities abroad and in mainland China. It has a program of exchanges with sister schools in the United States, Great Britain, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and mainland China.

Currently, the exchanges are conducted in many ways, such as the signing of agreements of collaboration, regular visits, exchanges of students and faculty, exchanges of periodicals, joint seminars, and providing scholarships.

To promote academic research, foster independent thinking and enhance the development of leadership and teamwork skills, CIT encourages students to organize various student clubs on the basis of their own interests. There are various types of extracurricular activities, such as academics, sports, entertainment, and community service.
