Creation, Development and Transition

Chihlee Institute of Technology (CIT) was originally founded as Chihlee College of Business (CLCB) in 1964. The school name and motto were adopted in accordance with the foundation of ancient Chinese philosophers and sages’ teachings: honesty, faith, accuracy and diligence. Initially, CLCB had four academic departments: International Trade, Business Administration, Accounting and Statistics, and Banking and Insurance. The Department of Secretarial Science was subsequently added in 1967. In the following year, CLCB opened for enrollment an evening classes program.

After years of development and growth in every aspect of CLCB, the Ministry of Education approved upgrading the institute’s status from that of associate college to baccalaureate college in August of 2000. With the inauguration of new two-year and four-year degree programs, it was renamed Chihlee Institute of Technology, ushering in a new era for the school. CIT currently offers two levels of daily programs: two-year and four-year bachelor’s degree programs and in addition, five-year associate degree programs. We also offer two levels of evening programs: two-year associate degree programs and two-year and four-year bachelor’s degree programs.
