Introduction
This Department was established in 1999. Our objective is to help students develop a good command of English and a strong foundation in business to meet the current demands for English-speaking professionals.

Teaching Goals
This Department emphasizes the following:
  • Helping students to successfully communicate with native speakers of English by strengthening skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Preparing students to enter business-related fields by teaching introductory courses on commerce.
  • Providing introductory courses on Computer Information Systems to benefit students in their future careers.
  • Developing multilingual professionals by requiring a second foreign language.
  • Developing students’ interpersonal communication skills and negotiation abilities.
Curricula
The curricula consist of 3 categories: Computer Information Systems, Commerce, and Languages.
  • Required Courses
    All courses for the first three years are mandatory. They are designed to help students build a solid foundation in their studies and achieve proficiency.

  • Elective Courses
    Courses in the 4th and 5th years are mainly electives. They are more practice-oriented.

  • Language-related business courses
    To integrate theory into practice, we offer business courses that incorporate language skills with practical business knowledge.

Activities
A wide variety of student activities are offered to motivate our students. The following are some of the activities we hold annually.
  • English speech contest
  • English drama contest
  • English study camp
  • English ability reinforcement
  • English language-related seminars
Facilities
Currently CIT has four language labs. Students have access to various audio-visual resources for self-learning. In addition, nine computer classrooms are available to support our computer-related courses.

Future Goals of Development
  • Recruit more full-time teachers with doctoral degrees in English-related fields and more teachers who are native speakers of English with a master's degree or doctoral degree in English-related fields.
  • Establish a language center.
  • Encourage students to take English proficiency tests conducted by domestic / international academic institutions.
  • Establish a self-learning center.
