Introduction
The Department of Information Management was established in August 2002 and its educational objective is to develop our students' knowledge, skills and understanding in the application of Information Management toward developing business solutions.

Aspects of the Curriculum
This Department stresses the following four categories of core courses (20 credits in each category):
  1. Information Technology
  2. Business Operational Systems
  3. Knowledge Management
  4. Electronic Commerce
Courses
  • Information Technology: Information Technology, Data Structure, Database System, Information Network, Computer Organization, Database System Application, Network Management, Multimedia Systems, Wireless Communication, etc.
  • Business Operational Systems: Business Operational Information Systems, such as, Management Information Systems, Business Management, SA/SD, Marketing Management, Financial Management, Human Resources Management, Production Management, etc.
  • Knowledge Management: Knowledge Management, i.e. MIS, SA/SD, DBMS, DSS, ES, KM, CRM, Data Warehouse, Data Mining and etc.
  • Electronic Commerce: Electronic Commerce, i.e., MIS, Networking Concepts, EC, Marketing Management, Production Management, Network Management, CRM, WEB Design, Information Security, etc.
Facilities
Professional courses are mostly conducted in the department’s four special computer classrooms. In addition, one special lab for each category of programs listed above will soon be established. Currently the following facilities for teaching and research are available:

Requirements
Students in the 2-year program are required to complete 72 credits plus at least one category of core courses. Students in the 4-year program are required to complete 128 credits and at least two categories of core courses.

Future Planning
The Department plans to establish a 2-year and 4-year program, as well as a 4-year evening program. It is also pleased to announce that the Graduate School of Information Management will soon be ready. Lastly, because the department emphasizes the quality of its faculty members, it will, apart from encouraging its faculty to conduct quality and quantifiable research, also hold teaching seminars, workshops, and symposiums on a regular basis to help advance their teaching methods.
