This Department was established in August 2003 and its educational objective is to meet the current business demands for professionals equipped with essential skills in network communication, as well as other practical skills.
Teaching Goals
The educational objective of this department stresses both theory and practice. Students will study fundamental network construction, maintenance and analysis. Basic knowledge in information technology, such as BCC, Electronics, Telecommunications, and Programming Languages, will also be introduced. In addition to academic courses in general knowledge, students are required to pass international certification tests and exams like the CCNA, MCSA and LINUX – all of which are very important when applying for jobs upon graduation. To further ensure that students have a strong foundation in network technology, they will also have to complete a course in network system designs. Ultimately this department hopes to develop its students' long-term interest, knowledge, skills and understanding in the application of network technology toward developing business solutions.
Facilities
All professional courses will be conducted in one of the four special computer classrooms that the department shares with the Department of Information Management. The department also plans to build new professional labs to meet the requirements of the course design.
