The Purpose
Marketing and Logistics Management is concerned with the flow of goods and services through the economy and the distribution of both industrial and consumer goods. Because more than half of every consumer dollar goes to marketing services, marketing is a very significant part of the economy. Consequently, the efficiency with which marketing activities are carried out has major social implications.
Therefore, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and other business firms will face the need to formulate and implement marketing policies by developing and executing marketing strategies and programs. Among the major marketing decision areas are product development and product line expansion, selection of distribution channels, maintenance and control of a sales organization, development of a promotional program and the establishment of service policies, pricing policies and methods.
